Alvin Goldhush, a Long Island dentist, begins creating cabinets for his own dentistry business, founding Raygold Industries. In time, cabinetry is his full-time career.

Raygold sales volume reaches about $6 million and the company is acquired by Boise Cascade.

1979

Four Boise Cascade executives – Bill Brandt, Al Graber, Jeff Holcomb, and Don Mathias – purchase the company in a leveraged buyout. The new company, American Woodmark Corporation, begins with 1,100 employees and three manufacturing facilities.

The Timberlake brand is born, designed specifically to supply and support the new construction industry with competitive pricing and superior service.

During the Great Recession, Timberlake stays committed to customers, maintaining a nationwide Service Center presence. Timberlake emerges the economic downturn as the largest new construction cabinetry brand.

Timberlake crosses the $500 million in annual sales benchmark. All of the Top 20 American production builders are working with the company, and Timberlake’s footprint reaches each of the most active new construction states.
